Welcome to West Cheshire College

Hello and welcome to West Cheshire College. I am really delighted that you have chosen to learn with us.

You have chosen a really exciting time to come to West Cheshire College. We are in the process of investing £65 million in state-of-the-art vocational learning facilities on our campuses in Chester and Ellesmere Port. In the New Year those of you who have chosen to develop skills in science and technology will move into the fabulous new building at Chester. It is designed to ensure you get the skills and experiences you need to get the job you want. It also has great social spaces and cutting edge technology.

In September 2011 we will move into the new building at Ellesmere Port where Creative and Service Industries will be based; so for many of you this fantastic facility will also be part of your learning as most people stay with us for two or three years. We are not building classrooms, but real work environments so that you will be able to say to a future employer ‘I can do that’ and ‘I have done that’ not ‘I have studied that’.

Some of you reading this message will not be learning with us on college campuses, but in your own work place or in a community venue. I hope that you will be able to visit our campuses so that you can enjoy the facilities that we have now such as our excellent Learning Resource Centres, the Fitness Suite, the Bistros and Restaurant and the Hair and Beauty Salons. In the near future I hope you will also take advantage of the science and technology specialist resources at Chester and the spa, restaurant and cafes, shop, health centre, business centre, theatre, fitness suite, dance studio, and hairdressing and nail salons at Ellesmere Port.

I am sorry that I cannot greet you personally but as we have over 20,000 students a year, I am sure you understand that it is just impossible. However, if you see me around the college please come up and talk to me and tell me about your experience at West Cheshire College. I really do value your views. I hope that you have a very happy and very successful time learning with us at West Cheshire College.
